InterMedia released FII findings in Dhaka, Bangladesh on June 22 at a joint conference with BRAC, a development organization dedicated to alleviating poverty by empowering the poor.
More Bangladeshi adults age 15 and older are financially included now than in previous years. Forty-three percent now have formal financial accounts, up from 37 percent in 2014. This growth is primarily driven by more adults age 15 and older in Bangladesh having mobile money accounts now, versus in 2014. Now, nine percent say they have a registered mobile money account, and eight percent are actively using a registered mobile money account. That’s almost doubled from 2014 when five percent had a registered account.
